What will happen to the denoising result if i use "qiime dada2 denoise-single" to denoise paired-end data?

dear technical expert:
I happened to use the command "qiime dada2 denoise-single" to make denosie my paired-end data, but i read the guideline and found that the paired-end data could be treated by either denoise-single or denoise-paired. What is different between the denosing results?

In that case only forward reads will be processed without merging.
