What is the difference between cd and mkdir

I dont get the difference between the two. I use cd desktop to change home directory to desktop and mkdir to create new folder but stil can not get the otheer functions and do not get using cd alone or how to make files inside the folder.

I think you should evaluate some of your questions. Many of them can be resolved with a quick google search. I am not sure if the developers of QIIME2 intended this forum to answer some of these questions.

Thanks for the advice. I am studying command line interface right now and getting over the basics.
