The feature-classifier step is too time consuming

Hello everyone, I am a student who has just used this software. When executing the feature-classifier step, I found that the server has been executing for four or five hours, but it still has not been completed.

I would like to ask if the Silva file in https://docs.qiime2.org/2024.10/data-resources/ has been
classified?

Or tell me that I can obtain the classified files through other channels。

Thanks

Hi @zhijie_huang,

Silva is a larger classifier, and depending on how large your sequences file is, this long run time may be expected.

Make sure you're grabbing the correct reference file for your analysis - if you're attempting to perform taxanomic classification using the Silva pre-trained classifier (for either full length or v4 region), you'll want to pull the latest classifier from resources.qiime2.org.

If you're attempting to run this on your personal machine and it doesn't successfully complete after a couple of days (as a longer estimate), you may want to reach out to your institution's IT department to see if there is a high performance cluster you can use to run this on.

Cheers :lizard:

It's exactly what you said, the results were only available the next day. Not only that, but it also prompted me that there was insufficient disk space. This is too big.

I will consider your suggestion。Thanks
