QZA zip file query

Currently a lab I work with has asked me to help them chose a primer pair and database for a project they are working on.

As part of this I have made a couple of databases roughly following this excellent tutorial, it is likely that 1 or 2 of them will be further curated and then used 'long term' potentially 5-10 years.

So my question is, is there a directory I can add the scripts that I used to generate these databases to the .qza files without impact their use - and ideally if altered within qiime will stay intact?

Thanks,

Jono

Hello!

I don't think the lifecycle of unmaintained of 5-10 years is a realistic estimate, assuming how quickly things evolve. Good databases are maintained and have a frequent release cycles (see Refseq, SILVA, etc.).

Having in mind FAIR principles I would advise using Zenodo to store database + scripts used for generation.
