Qiime2 2022.8 Installation error

Hello,

I have been using Qiime2 for several years and am typically able to routinely update as new versions come out. However, with the qiime2 2022.8 release here , I get a slew of the found conflicts error below:

CondaError: KeyboardInterrupt

I interrupted it this time because it will do this, search for a few hours, then crash because several packages are incompatible and return to the terminal. I have had this issue a couple of times with past updates, and sometimes it magically works.

I am attempting to install via conda. I have done conda update conda as well.

I am on a shared HPC environment running CentOS7 with no problems running qiime2 versions as far back as 2018, including recently using 2022.2.

Thanks for providing those details. I suspect this intermittent error is due to the HPC initialized PATH being prioritized over conda's - which will cause conflicts anytime there are overlapping package versions that don't match. If this keeps happening, I'd recommend reaching out to your sysadmin and asking them for assistance modifying the HPC PATH to prevent conflicts with the required builds/versions that are included with QIIME 2 when creating a new conda environment.

Yeah, I tried the reiussed .yaml file shortly after the reply to my OP. I still get the same slew of errors. I didn't read all of Martin's issues, but I'm guessing it's mostly the same.

Issue is still unresolved for me, and I am curious to learn what could be the difference between 2022.2 and 2022.8 in that the earlier version(s) worked without this issue.

I forgot to mention that other conda environments or installs have worked independently of this qiime2 2022.8 during the time since release, and do not have this same slew of install errors. I have tested that across a few logins (subordinates have replicated the same issue I see on my HPC cluster) and packages, so at this point I believe it to be just something to do with the qiime2 install .yaml file.

Hey @rarthur, just to check, what version of conda do you have (conda --version)?

This looks like maybe a different solver is running compared to the one that made the environment yaml.

(Also, just to confirm, you've downloaded the most recent environment yaml file? We had to update it yesterday to handle an upstream issue with unifrac-binaries.)

Hi Evan, yes, I had done a fresh rm / wget to refresh my copy of the yaml when Liz replied to me yesterday and relaunched my attempt to install the newest qiime2 version. Upon trying to find and update my conda versions, here's what I've got.

This may have fixed it! I wasn't aware conda had updated that much in roughly a month (I had tried updating conda before as well), so my mistake there. My install is not complete yet, but upon updating conda and attempting again, I am not seeing the compatibility errors and it seems to have resolved the environment and begun downloading and installing to the 2022.8 env as of now. I am up to the executing transaction stage of the conda install, so I think this is resolved. If it isn't, I'll reply again.
