Hello, I am writing an essay about the QIIME open-source and interactive learning model.
I need confirmation that hospitals or commercial laboratories use QIIME to process 16S rRNA data for diagnosing and treating patients, rather than just for publishing scientific papers. Ideally, this confirmation should include a citation.
I understand that I can look up large-scale clinical studies using QIIME on Google Scholar. But I want a direct quote from some hospital or companies mentioning they use QIIME for their operation

Hi @forbesavila387, Yes, it's perfectly fine to cite the information I provided as personal communication. You can feel free to cite the forum as well, but note that the URLs are not guaranteed to be stable forever (we have no plans to change them, but just wanted to mention that).

I am trying to submit it in Lasker 2025 essay contest (Essay Contest - Lasker Foundation). So I'm not sure it will be published or not (I think, only the top 5 get published).
Topic
Identify a specific innovation in education or training to help ensure a sustainable, inclusive, and successful future biomedical research workforce.
When I read the topic, I think the QIIME model of software distribution, tutorial, and forum embodies that the most.
Regarding the finalized essay I will submit it via the methods you recommend me~

Sounds great! I have some thoughts on other mechanisms of publication that I'd be happy to discuss with you if you're interested. For example, you may be able to submit as a pre-print or post to Zenodo, even if you don't intended to make it journal publication. Either of those would give you a formal citation that you could use (though neither would be a peer-reviewed article). Feel free to follow up by DM on the forum if this is of interest.
