observed features vs observed OTUs

Hi,
When i drag my alpha_rarefaction.qzv file on qiime2 viewer, I see rarefaction curve for
observed features and not observed OTUs. Are these terms same or interchangeable? Because previously (for a different projects) whenever I viewed alpha_rarefaction.qzv file on qiime2 viewer, I used to see rarefaction curve for observed OTUs.

Please guide.

From what I understand this will depend on the clustering method you used. If you used vsearch de novo, open, or closed reference clustering then the features refer to OTUs. If you used DADA2 then it's ASVs (sequence variants).

Hopefully one of the developers can confirm or correct this information.

I am not a developer but you are right. "Features" can mean any unit that is used in the table, such as ASVs, OTUs or taxa depending on the origin of feature table.
