greengenes taxonomy: bacteria belonging to same genus but in different family

When I use gg-13-8-99-515-806-nb-classifier to species annotations, something is happened:bacteria belonging to same genus but in different family. For example,
k__Bacteria; p__Firmicutes; c__Clostridia; o__Clostridiales; f__Lachnospiraceae; g__Ruminococcus; s__lactaris
k__Bacteria; p__Firmicutes; c__Clostridia; o__Clostridiales; f__Ruminococcaceae; g__Ruminococcus; s__callidus
So,this is common phenomenon? Thanks for your answer!

Hi @zhangyun,
I have re-titled your post to clarify and move this to the “other bioinformatics tools” category because this is a question about the greengenes taxonomy, not QIIME 2 functionality itself. The taxonomy classifiers in QIIME 2 use the taxonomy however it is provided, so to be clear this annotation is coming directly from greengenes, it is not due to annotation by QIIME 2.

Some bacterial taxonomies — especially, e.g., Ruminococcus — are quite complicated and their precise lineage is disputed. So finding two species from the same genus but different families does occur in some taxonomies when the lineage is disputed.
