Is this possible?
I think it would be great if the .tsv file generated by qiime tools export contained metadata columns along with the specific metric column. Could be quicker than dealing with the entire .biom file.

metadata tabulate can take multiple metadata files (including SampleData[AlphaDiversity] artifacts) as input, effectively merging them into one. So run this command with both your metadata file and alpha diversity data (and even some additional sample data artifacts) as input, view the visualization, and print as TSV (there is a button to print as TSV from within the visualization), and voila!
