Hi folks,
In gneiss plot below, did anyone know what is the light blue and dark blue panels? Do they represent any kind of comparison?
With thanks,

Hi @maysa1 there is some documentation in the gneiss tutorials. See here for instance: Differential abundance analysis with gneiss — QIIME 2 2019.10.0 documentation
There are also a few related questions worth following up on. See a couple of examples below
Yes, those conclusions are correct - 22% explained variance certainly higher than the average study.
I’d avoid drawing that conclusion from the heatmap - the R^2 differences are a better way for that sort of inference.
4- I didn’t understand the section of the plot between the dendogram and the heatmap – Y0 through Y9? Are these the top 10 balances? What exactly is Y? Why there are a total of 10 Y plotted - from 0 through 9? More importantly, what are the numerator and the denominator?
Y…
Hello Guys
I ran qiime gneiss balance-taxonomy, using the output from Geniss as input. Nothing went wrong but I can't really find inforamtion about the lighter blue area and darker blue area in the proportion plot. I wonder if anybody know what it corresponds to.
My guess is the light/dark blue area correspond to the denominator/numerator, respectively, of the y level selected in parameter.
Plus,I also would like to know what is the proportion on the x-axis.
thanks in advance [heatmap SEW] […
I also have an explanation of balances in this notebook
There is also a youtube video that explains these concepts in the paper .
Briefly the colors denote the numerator and the denominator of the balance. There is a chance that there is a confusion around the concept of balances. So feel free to follow up with the above resources and I can help with interpreting this plot.
