I am looking for a method to install the metaphlan2 plugin into the Qiime2 environment for q2Galaxy. I am currently using Podman rather than Docker to host the container. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately we don't have a good official way of adding new plugins to q2galaxy. It should be possible if you set up your own Galaxy deployment manually (which it kind of sounds like you're already doing to some extent) and then use q2galaxy to generate the tools for the plugin(s) you want and host q2galaxy locally, but it may be pretty obnoxious and involved.
