New user, Need help to start Qiime

Hi All,
I am a beginner in this area. We have use 16s rRNA next-generation sequencing with Ion Torrent. This time we analyzed 20 samples and got the sequenced data as fast files which are demultiplexed and barcodes are trimmed.
I like to use Qiime in Windows 10. Could anyone please suggest me the steps which I need to follow for Qiime? I would be happy to have your help. TIA

Shahin

Hello and welcome,

You should check this installation page. I have not tried these steps because I am an ubuntu user, but they look like easy steps.

On newer versions of Windows, performing a native conda installation in the Windows Subsystem for Linux usually works well

If you need help about the analysis steps not the installation, I'd ask more information about the question/problem.

Good luck!

Thanks @the_dummy!

What does this mean? The Native Conda installation should work just fine on Ubuntu machines.

Thanks @thermokarst

Could you please suggest me what I can I do next with the fastq files?
I have already installed Qiime2 in Windows 10.

Thanks @the_dummy
I have already installed Qiime2 in windows 10 using Docker.
Can you please help me stepwise what should I do now with my fastq files?

@mshahin - please spend some time reviewing the documentation (and tutorials) at docs.qiime2.org.

I have already gone through several platforms. But it looks messy to me. Thus, if I get some specific information from the users who did Qiime as same as with my data, it would be very helpful for me.

Accept my apology as a beginner.

Uh... What I meant was, I have not tried Q2 on Windows, I have always used it on Ubuntu. But the steps for Windows described on the page were crystal clear.

As @thermokarst said, you need to dive into the docs page and especially to tutorials, believe me, they are designed so informative.

Lastly, I would recommend doing this so that you can learn stuff much better. Instead of asking someone to hold your hand through whole analysis, ask for help for the step you have failed or the concept you could not understand. Forum is very active and helpful, you can get answers for almost anything (btw, I'm just a user, not from Q2 team).

Thanks @the_dummy!

Thanks for clarifying! It came across to me as the exact opposite :yin_yang:

I am interested in your workshop on Oct 05. What is your opinion?
Do you think I would be successful in analyzing my data after getting trained?

As one of the organizers of the workshop, I think my opinion might be a bit biased, don't you?

I think any time spent trying to better understand what you're working on is time well spent, don't you?
