I use Windows and have been using QIIME2 on my computer for many years after installing Oracle Virtualbox. QIIME 2 CORE - 2021.11 is running on VirtualBox as I write this, today I can't use it because I get an Ubuntu screen with a username and password... The password is accepted, but Qiime returns to the login screen.
The only thing different from yesterday (when I could successfully log in) is that I downloaded a huge amount of data to process.
What do you mean by "Qiime returns to the login screen"? When you run a qiime command in the terminal you're returned to the ubuntu login screen?

If you could previously login to your virtual box but no longer can then this is unlikely to be due to QIIME2, but rather an issue with the virtual box itself. This forum won't be the best place for troubleshooting such issues.
Hello Colin, thank you for your reply.
I can't run login, I type the password, but qiime2 doesn't open. Everything is stuck on the login screen.
I try to look for this problem in the virtual box forum.
Thank you.
I would also recommend creating your own virtualbox image at this point. It's very easy to install QIIME 2 in virtual machines/images these days, which is why we've generally stopped distributing our own versions (with that fixed password). You can just follow the linux install instructions from our docs on pretty much any environment. (We've typically used Ubunutu in the past if you're looking for something familiar.)
I'm sure there are ways to move the files you created in your VirtualBox back to your host operating system so that they aren't lost when you delete it. Again, sorry I can't assist with the specifics--you'll be better served with these sorts of questions on the appropriate forum.
