Hi all, I need help in extracting barcodes!
I am very new to qiime. I have fastq files for forward and reverse reads from Illumina Miseq, 16SrDNA metabarcoding data. However, I don't have the barcode file. I am searching for tools to extract the barcodes. I tried to install qiime1 to use extract_barcodes.py, but the installation seems extremely challenging..
can anyone give me a suggestion?

On the Importing Data page, there are examples for many formats, including some like “EMP protocol” that have the barcode in the sequences like you described. If you want to tell us more, hopefully we could point you to the tool or plugin that will work best for your data.
