I’m in the process of embedding a qiime2 plugin within my software package. The corresponding PR can be found here
One of the things that I’m currently hung up on at the moment is the function signature.
I’m declaring one of my functions as follows

TypeError: Artifact inputs must come before parameters in callable signature.
If I’m understanding correctly, Phylogenies and Tables are both Artifacts. Is Metadata also considered an artifact? And what does this error message mean?
