# Removing suffixes from GTDB taxonomy to improve qiime results

Hi @biojack, I agree @jwdebelius, those are features, not bugs. 🙂

If you are truly interested in editing the taxonomy, then you can use [qiime rescript edit-taxonomy ...](https://forum.qiime2.org/t/processing-filtering-and-evaluating-the-silva-database-and-other-reference-sequence-data-with-rescript/15494#heading--sixteenth-header), to edit the taxonomy strings 🪚. This can be quite useful for making figures, etc...
