I have been doing a microbiome study and I want to develop a heatmap at level 6 or level 7 with just the genus name and not the kingdom, phylum, class, order and family names in it. Is there a possibility for such a method?
I use the qiime-geature table heatmap command for generating my heatmaps.

There is no QIIME 2 method to do this easily right now. The only approach will be to export your taxonomy artifact, modify the names to your liking, then reimport to QIIME 2 as a FeatureData[Taxonomy] artifact. I can’t give more specific guidance — this will require some customized modification.
