qiime diversity alpha-rarefaction plugin error

Hi there-

I am running qiime2-2020.8 on a conda environment and am having trouble running the diversity alpha rarefaction step. I have used this for other datasets and am at a loss as to why I am getting this error.

I typed the following command:
qiime diversity alpha-rarefaction --i-table 2020-10_USDA-UNL_table.qza --i-phylogeny 2020-10_USDA-UNL_rooted-tree.qza --p-max-depth 34900 --m-metadata-file 2020-10_USDA-UNL_Metadata3.txt --o-visualization 2020-10_USDA-UNL_alpha-rarefaction3.qzv

Plugin error from diversity:

See above for debug info.

I appreciate any insight!

Hi @kjeanis,
Welcome to the forum!

Similar issues have been reported before; I suspect you have a forward slash character in your sample metadata file, perhaps named “incubation/inhibitor”? Remove the slash and you should be fine, see here for a similar issue:

Good luck!
