I am trying to install the amplicon distribution on WSL using conda (with: conda env create -n qiime2-amplicon-2024.10 --file [https://data.qiime2.org/distro/amplicon/qiime2-amplicon-2024.10-py310-linux-conda.yml](https://data.qiime2.org/distro/amplicon/qiime2-amplicon-2024.10-py310-linux-conda.yml)).

But, I keep getting the following error:
(base) C:\Users\afolakemia.UJ\>conda env create -n qiime2-amplicon-2024.10 --file [https://data.qiime2.org/distro/amplicon/qiime2-amplicon-2024.10-py310-linux-conda.yml](https://data.qiime2.org/distro/amplicon/qiime2-amplicon-2024.10-py310-linux-conda.yml)

Hello @Modinat,

It looks like you were not in a wsl shell when you ran these commands, make sure you are and then try again.

Hi @Modinat,

I suggest reading through the threads linked here via these posts:

> Hi @nietof, If I am not mistaken, it appears as if you are entering commands into the Windows Command Prompt, and not the [Windows Subsystem for Linux](https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wsl/about). You'll have to install WSL onto your system following the details in the link provided. I am currently using the [Ubuntu 18.04 LTS](https://ubuntu.com/wsl) in my WSL. Here is a screenshot of my Windows 10 Taskbar with the Windows Command Prompt (left) and the Ubuntu 18.04 LTS WSL (right). [ubuntu] Basically, I'll open my Ubuntu WSL and then activate QIIME 2 as I woul…

> So when I see the C:\ as you have here: That tells me that you are running through the Windows command prompt and not WSL (i.e. there should be a separate "app" icon for you to launch WSL. In my case I have an icon for Ubuntu 18.04 LTS. The thread I linked you above describes this (note the screen-shot of the icons). To clarify, on my Windows 10 setup: my Windows 10 Command Prompt looks like: C:\Users\Mike\> my WSL prompt looks like: (base) mike@BLUE:~$ That is, it appears that you ha…

> Hi @Audrey_Anne, I think you are trying to use Windows command prompt syntax in your Ubuntu LTS. That is, this: Users\audre\Bureau\Projetmain should be: Users/audre/Bureau/Projetmain One trick that you can use to share files between your Windows and Ubuntu LTS is to do the following: In Ubuntu LTS terminal window type: explorer.exe . . This will open a Windows Explorer window with the path to your home directory within your Ubuntu LTS. See [here](https://forum.qiime2.org/t/qiime2-on-windows-subsystem-for-linux/12806). Drag this path in the window to your Quick…
