📜 The Rachis team proudly presents our latest paper: [MOSHPIT: Accessible, reproducible metagenome data science on the QIIME 2 framework](https://doi.org/10.1016/j.xgen.2026.101366)!

As some of you probably have already seen, MOSHPIT is our "new" distribution for whole-metagenome sequencing data analysis, all within the Rachis ecosystem. It allows you to perform both, read-based and assembly-based analysis, and is fully compatible with the existing plugins that you already know and love. 😃

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who was involved in this big multi-year effort - from ideating and code development to testing and tutorial writing. It's been a long and productive journey, and we are not stopping here! MOSHPIT is under active development and we continue delivering new features in every release, so stay tuned for more! 📣

In the meantime, if you haven't tried it yet, head over to our [documentation](https://moshpit.qiime2.org) where you will find installation instructions, usage examples, and focused tutorials to get you started quickly.

As always, we are very open to any feedback you may have - please post on the forum in case of any questions and/or suggestions!

Cheers,
Michal
