Installation QIIME2.2017.12 - unsupported scheme

I’m attempting to install QIIME2 but am getting stuck already at the download unfortunately…

I’m on a Mac OS High Sierra 10.13.2. I’ve installed Miniconda and wget but when I run

wget https://data.qiime2.org/distro/core/qiime2-2017.12-py35-osx-conda.yml

I get

https://data.qiime2.org/distro/core/qiime2-2017.12-py35-osx-conda.yml: Unsupported scheme.

I had installed wget previously from wget-1.9.1.tar.gz. Could it be an issue with the other version of wget? I did run conda install wget afterwards…

Hi @Sandra, wget isn’t a fixed requirement for installing QIIME 2, just a convenience for downloading the yml environment file. If wget is giving you trouble, feel free to download any way that is appropriate for your workflow (e.g., download via your browser). Thanks!

PS - wget 1.9.1 is almost 15 years old, networking has changed a bit in the meantime, so I imagine that is why you experienced an issue there.

Thanks Matthew! I managed to get everything installed through my iTerm terminal!
