Is this a server or a laptop or a desktop? :computer: :desktop_computer: ?

What kind of CPU does it have? Is this one of the new Qualcomm Snapdragon X CPUs, perhaps?

Here is how you can find out: Search for 'dxdiag' and open it

The CPU will be listed here:
(You can see my computer has an AMD Ryzen 7 5700G)

Cool!

The ARM-based processors have some compatibility issues, as most of the packages on Conda and Bioconda were built for x86.

We had the same issue when the ARM-based Apple Silicon chips came out 4 years ago, but we got it working eventually.

While we work on supporting Linux on ARM, do you have access to any other computers you can use to run Qiime2? An older Mac or Windows laptop perhaps or a university server?

I have access to the computers in my University, so yes.

Okay! Using University High-Performance Computing (HPC) is a very good idea for a few reasons!

First, they have more computing power than a single laptop, which is helpful when working with large data sets.

More importantly, they have a support team that can help you get software set up and running on their servers. They may already have Qiime2 installed!
