Hello!

I am attempting to demultiplex my data with `demux` but I am unsure how to have this command read my files properly. My sequences are in `.fastq` format and my mapping file is just a `.txt` and looks like this:

 ![image](https://forum-qiime2-org.s3.dualstack.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/original/2X/1/18589a9c0114612e59a38e2bd3838069a1f4946d.png)

Does anyone have advice on how to use `demux` to pair these files and demultiplex my data?

Thanks in advance!
Taylor

Hi @Taylorr,

Thanks for reaching out, apologies for the delay in response here!

I'd recommend checking out our [User Docs](https://docs.qiime2.org/2022.8/tutorials/importing/) to learn about how to import your data into QIIME 2 - this will walk you through how to import your data based on the format of your sequences. Once you've done that, you can take a look at the documentation on our [demux commands](https://docs.qiime2.org/2022.8/plugins/available/demux/) and which one makes the most sense for your data.

Hope this helps! Cheers 🦎
