Beta Diversity code error

Hi everyone,

I want to run beta diversity to examine microbial difference between patients having more or less number of sexual partners. I told qiime2 to use "partners" column. There are 4 groups in this column, including: 1 to 3, 4 to 6, 7 to 9, and 10 or more. Below is the error I got.

Do I need to simplify the control and disease column? As of now, I also have hormonal therapy status, and disease with timepoint columns. Was it also the reason why I got error in my code?

qiime diversity beta-group-significance \
--i-distance-matrix core-metrics-results4/unweighted_unifrac_distance_matrix.qza
--m-metadata-file metadata5.tsv
--m-metadata-column partners
--o-visualization core-metrics-results4/unweighted-unifrac-partners-significance.qzv
--p-pairwise

Usage: qiime diversity beta-group-significance [OPTIONS]

Determine whether groups of samples are significantly different from one
another using a permutation-based statistical test.

Inputs:
--i-distance-matrix ARTIFACT
DistanceMatrix Matrix of distances between pairs of samples.
[required]
Parameters:
--m-metadata-file METADATA
--m-metadata-column COLUMN MetadataColumn[Categorical]
Categorical sample metadata column. [required]
--p-method TEXT Choices('permanova', 'anosim', 'permdisp')
The group significance test to be applied.
[default: 'permanova']
--p-pairwise / --p-no-pairwise
Perform pairwise tests between all pairs of groups in
addition to the test across all groups. This can be
very slow if there are a lot of groups in the metadata
column. [default: False]
--p-permutations INTEGER
The number of permutations to be run when computing
p-values. [default: 999]
Outputs:
--o-visualization VISUALIZATION
[required]
Miscellaneous:
--output-dir PATH Output unspecified results to a directory
--verbose / --quiet Display verbose output to stdout and/or stderr during
execution of this action. Or silence output if
execution is successful (silence is golden).
--example-data PATH Write example data and exit.
--citations Show citations and exit.
--help Show this message and exit.

Hi!
Did you run it like this, with all backward slashes?

qiime diversity beta-group-significance \
    --i-distance-matrix core-metrics-results4/unweighted_unifrac_distance_matrix.qza \
    --m-metadata-file metadata5.tsv \
    --m-metadata-column partners \
    --o-visualization core-metrics-results4/unweighted-unifrac-partners-significance.qzv \
    --p-pairwise

Yes I did. They all had backward slashes.

Could you provide a screenshot of the terminal window with the command and with list of files in the working directory? It will help us to troubleshoot this error.

Best,

Here you go!

Hi again!
Looks like the command itself is fine, though I did not find metadata5.tsv file in the listed directory.
Could you also check if there are any spaces in the line after \? Like "\ ". Spaces can also be a reason of the error you are facing.

Best,
