alpha-group-significance: Metadata does not contain any columns that satisfy this visualizer’s requirements

Hi everyone,

I am doing an alpha diversity analysis with some of my data. I first ran the following:

qiime diversity core-metrics-phylogenetic
--i-phylogeny rooted_tree.qza
--i-table table.qza
--p-sampling-depth 9000
--m-metadata-file metadata.txt
--output-dir core_metrics_results

I chose the depth based on my output from dada2 analysis (as shown below)

I then ran the following to visualize it:

qiime diversity alpha-group-significance \
--i-alpha-diversity core_metrics_results/faith_pd_vector.qza
--m-metadata-file metadata.txt
--o-visualization core_metrics_results/faith_pd_group_significance

However, it gives the error,
"Metadata does not contain any columns that satisfy this visualizer's requirements. There must be at least one metadata column that contains categorical data, isn't empty, doesn't consist of unique values, and doesn't consist of exactly one value"

I tried some of the suggestions from other topic strings including visualization of the core metrics. It looks like this:

This tells me, I think, that it worked but somehow, when I try to visualize it, it is giving me the error.

I would really appreciate your help with this. Thank you.

Hi! I suppose it’s because your metadata do not contain any columns to divide your samples on subgroups. For example, treated vs untreated, infected vs control and so on.
