# Add clarification to qiime feature-table filter-features that you can filter with a sequence artifact

I was trying to find a way to filter a feature table artifact so it only has the features from a sequence artifact. I couldn't find it by reading the plugin docs. However, reading the [chimera tutorial](https://docs.qiime2.org/2024.10/tutorials/chimera/) I found that you can use a sequence artifact in the `--m-metadata-file` option of the `qiime feature-table filter-features` plugin to do it. The [filter-features docs](https://docs.qiime2.org/2024.10/plugins/available/feature-table/filter-features/) does not clearly say that this is possible and I think that it needs a clarification.

I agree that the `Filtering Data` tutorial could use a section explaining that certain artifacts can be viewed as metadata and thus used as a filter. Would you like to open a GitHub issue for this on [docs](https://github.com/qiime2/docs)? If not, I can. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
